It is Sunday afternoon - morning to all you westerners!
Today was a great day of worship at the International House of Praise..otherwise known as IHOP or at least that is what I am calling it. They didn't serve pancakes but it was a great way to get integrated in worshiping with other christians from around the world. This church is home to many mission organizations in Asia. It has been exciting to meet so many different people and hear how they got started in missions. It is great for me to be able to pick their brains and get a feel for what may lie ahead.
This afternoon, I was invited to a swim party to celebrate one of the girls birthday. It was SOOO refreshing after a sweaty hot morning! Now I am slightly burnt and a little pruney...but well worth it!
Tomorrow will start my actual first day of class at MTI. We start off every morning with prayer time & worship. I was able to experience that last friday, which was just great. Who wouldn't want to start their day off that way! As part of the course, I will be reading 10 books and writing reports on about half. The books get harder as they go but all geared to the mission field. You can pray for that. I am not a huge fan of reading so you can pray that I understand what I read and to be able to translate that to a paper.
I should probably dig into my book for this week. I love you all!

Hi Kari things sound exciting already. I wrote you this long note the other night and your dad messed up sending it so I am just getting back to you. Aunt Marty and Suzie visited yesterday for a couple hr. We sat on the porch and ejoyed good conversation and brunch. Dad has a Prostate biopsy on the 2nd. PA assures him that it is a quick proceedure and we will get results in 10 days, just in time to see the Pulmonary Dr and CAT scan, the following week we will see Dr M. Hopefully he will give us an idea of future plans. He feels good but the wait is hard. Glad he has the movie night next Sat. Tme to go to church. Love Mom
Wow! 10 books! Can't wait to see the list of titles. You're going to be so stinking well-read when you get home...I'm going to have to buckle down so that I can keep up with you intellectually.
So glad to hear that you're out and about and hanging out. (I'm poetic.) It does my heart good to know that you're making friends.
We need to figure out the Skype thing soon! I'm dying to have a real conversation with you. Love you! Miss you!
Mom - I tried to skype you yesterday morning..your morning but dad wasn't on. Sorry to miss you. I think that will be my best bet to actually do some facetime with you. Sounds like testing is going to busy for dad. I am sure the movie night will perk him up a bit. Hopefully you will have nice weather! What did you end up deciding on the movie? I am sure whatever it is, it will be fun. love you!
Sarah - the book list is some that you may have never heard. At least, I have never heard of them. All except This Present Darkness by Frank Peretti. Thankfully, we do not have to do a report on that one! I was able to figure out the issues with skype so maybe we can try it sometime this weekend. I am 13hrs ahead not 12 so maybe this Sunday morning (for you) or Saturday night. Just let me know what works better. Well it is getting to be my sleepy time...love you lots and miss you tons!
Sure glad you got to go to a pool party! Was it a nice pool? Missed you yesterday in church, but I am sure your worship experience was pretty interesting too! The weather has been beautiful here with beautiful clouds and sunsets. Interesting to know that you're looking at the same sun we do, just at a different time! Makes me feel closer to you! Just glad that you're doing a good job of keeping us posted on your life there. Sounds like you're going to be turning into a bookwork, like it or not! And....can a certain English teacher on this side of the globe help give advice on those papers? Sure hope so! Love you lots! Elijah says....well I asked him what he wanted to say to Kari and now he's just smiling, so I guess that's the message he's sending your way! Miss you!
Mary,
The pool party was great. It was a super nice pool surprisingly. Church was great. They have 2 churches. One in English and the other in Thai. Once I get a handle on the language, I would like to try the Thai church. I have always thought it was so cool to worship the same God with many languages.
This week we started in on the Thai language. It is starting to make sense or at least the sounds are becoming more familiar. It will take time - thank goodness I have 3 mths to get it together!
Miss you too!
Hey Kari, I'm glad that ya made it all safe and sound and things are going well for you there! Just wanted to drop ya a note and let ya know that I'm keeping you in my prayers and I haven't forgotten about ya! I have to say that I miss ya at work. It's really boring not having ya to talk there. But have fun and learn lots while you are away. I'm sure the Lord will lead you down the path he has set for ya. I'll talk to you later! ~Adam~
Thanks Adam - miss hanging out with you at work too! not the work, just hanging out!!
